Statement of Reconciliation

Hamline's vote as a reconciling congregation was taken on May 16, 1999. Our Statement was updated January 13, 2010:

"As a Reconciling Congregation, our Church strives to bring Christ's love and grace to all, including persons and their families who experience prejudice, hatred, or unjust treatment because of their sexual orientation.  By declaring ourselves to be a reconciling congregation, we join many other United Methodist Churches in inviting the full participation of all persons including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.

We will work to eliminate prejudice and discriminatory practices within ourselves, our church, and our community.  We will promote a ministry of reconciliation, believing that we are all loved by God."

Hamline Church is deeply rooted in the Weslyan tradition. The United Methodist Church affirms spiritual diversity and individual integrity. Our beliefs are not dictated by doctrinal statements or confessions, but shaped and guided by rigorous prayerful reflection on scripture, tradition, reason, and experience.

Hamline Church has a strong sense of personal and spiritual value. Our values as a church are to be:
