Twin Cities Pride 2019

Twin Cities PRIDE is June 22 & 23.  Given the outcome of General Conference 2019 and the negative publicity about the United Methodist Church, this is a very important year for us to be visible at PRIDE.  We will do this through our booth and presence in the parade.  The MN Reconciling Congregations meeting group decided that we should have t-shirts that identify us and have a positive message about what we want to do in the Methodist Church. Since PRIDE is only six weeks away, we need to have you order t-shirts as soon as possible – no later than May 26.

Here are the details
T-shirts – We have designed a shirt that has “Inclusive Methodists” on the front and “Building a New Church” with a graphic of multi-colored bricks on the back.  The shirts are available in red, orange, yellow, blue, green and purple (so that we can form rainbows) in children and adult sizes.  Most are only $11/shirt.  We ask that everyone who walks in the parade wear one of these shirts and encourage all who work in the booth to wear one.  Here is a picture of the shirt colors and graphics https://gallery.mailchimp.com/0f311d3342e95b660084ef226/files/e7dd9d1a-fcb0-4ef8-a6f6-054f94fe77a6/JERDE_SHIRTS_2019.pdf and the order form https://gallery.mailchimp.com/0f311d3342e95b660084ef226/files/bc123903-0b93-4e63-bd2b-4ce5afcc055c/Inclusive_Methodists_order_form.pdf

Loring Park booth – MN Reconciling Congregations booth will be set-up on Friday morning.  It will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday with take down at 6 p.m.  Most shifts are two hours.  Each shift will have a “lead volunteer” who will arrive 15 minutes before the other volunteers and stay 15 minutes into the next shift.  If you have worked in the booth in the past, you can serve as a lead volunteer.  Volunteers will check in with the lead, get their “orientation” and check out with the lead at the end of the shift.

The booth sign-up sheet is at ttsu.me/z7myps  The sign-up form can be accessed from your computer or mobile device.  When viewing on a Smartphone, hold the phone in portrait position for the “user friendly” display.  Please go to the website (soon) and select the time when you would like to work in the booth.  You will receive a confirmation email when you sign-up as well as another closer to PRIDE that will have more detailed information.
Nancy Glades (bafflemuse@yahoo.com) and Judy Jerde (jaj@hopefultravelers.net) are coordinating the booth.

Parade – The parade is on Sunday at 11 a.m.  Due to street construction, the route will be on 2nd Ave South, not Hennepin Avenue. We plan to have a worship service prior to the start of the parade.  More information will be coming out closer to the parade date.  All parade participants are asked to wear an Inclusive Methodist t-shirt.
Nathaniel (Nnordberg12@hotmail.com) and Sarah Nordberg (Sarah.j.nordberg@gmail.com) are coordinating the parade.

Please forward this email to other members of your congregation who may be interested in our plans for PRIDE 2019!  We want visitors to PRIDE to know that there are United Methodist churches that care about and welcome them!  Please let us know if you have questions.  We’re looking forward to a great PRIDE celebration!

Thanks for your help!
